This is a portrait of Lady Marie-Louise Teixeira de Mattos in her wedding dress (1924). It was made in Jacob Merkelbach's studio in Amsterdam and took more than four hours to color.
In addition to the subtle coloring of her dress, which gives it a beautiful shine, details such as pearls, the carpet, the contemporary make-up and all the individually protruding feathers of the fan complete the end result.
Marie-Louise Johanna Daisy Teixeira de Mattos (Amsterdam, October 9, 1899 - Warmond, January 5, 1984) was a scion of the wealthy Jewish-Amsterdam banking family Teixeira de Mattos and was the grand mistress of Queen Juliana.
